I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our website and the 2011-2012 school year. I am proud to be part of the Gilpin Elementary School community where student’s abilities and their differences are valued! Our staff provides a safe, welcoming and responsive environment for students to grow. We are a learning community, who work together to create positive and meaningful opportunities that nurture students’ growth intellectually, artistically, athletically, socially and environmentally. We strive to develop our students to be independent, creative thinkers and sensitive to the world around them.
As you walk down the hallways of Gilpin School, you will see students engaged in small groups working on projects or on classroom work. Also, you will immediately notice student work of high standards displayed everywhere. Exposure to dance and opera studies are some of the outstanding artistic opportunities students have had at Gilpin. In the classrooms, you will find staff facilitating discussions and cultivating thinking and learning. When it comes to our athletic programs, you will see enthusiasm, sportsmanship, skill development and fun, all of which contribute to a healthy, active lifestyle. Students participate in noon-hour games and after school programs all year long. Gilpin students contribute their time, talent and energy to make this world a better place by being involved in clubs, service and fundraisers. We are very proud of the Gilpin School spirit!
Parents are enthusiastic and committed at Gilpin. They are active and are welcome to become involved in their children’s educational journey by participating and volunteering at events and activities. Gilpin hosts annual events such as the Gilpin Gala, Open House, Breakfast with Santa, and fundraising sales.
Thank you for visiting our website and I look forward to connecting and reconnecting with you and your children throughout the year. Please feel free to call or email me at stephanie.miller@sd41.bc.ca
